Thomas Drayton Biography
Thomas Drayton (born in 1973) is an American Emmy Award–winning news anchor and correspondent who rejoined the FOX 29 News team in October 2016 as a co-anchor of the 4–6 a.m. hours of Good Day Philadelphia, following his work as an international network correspondent and host.
He previously served as co-anchor of FOX 29 News at Five and FOX 29 News at Ten from September 2008 to 2013. Over the course of his career, Drayton has worked as an anchor and reporter in major markets, including New York City, Denver, Sacramento, Anchorage, as well as Colorado Springs.
He spent part of his childhood in the Delaware Valley, attending Marcus Newcomb Middle School in Pemberton Township, New Jersey, while his dad was stationed at Fort Dix. He later attended Pepperdine University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Telecommunications.
Widely recognized for his excellence in journalism, Thomas has received numerous awards and honors, including National Association of Broadcasters awards for Outstanding News Anchor, Outstanding News Producer, as well as Outstanding Investigative Reporting.
His accolades also include recognition from the NAACP for leadership and community commitment, awards from the National Association of Black Journalists, Associated Press honors for both local and national reporting, and thirteen Emmy nominations.
In addition to his broadcast career, Drayton is deeply involved in community service. He works with various nonprofit organizations supporting families in need and individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
He has founded three academic scholarships for underserved children and previously served as Vice President in Sacramento for the National Academy of Arts and Sciences, where he established an additional scholarship for minority students pursuing careers in broadcasting.
