Jenn Schanz Biography
Jenn Schanz is an American journalist currently serving as a weekend morning anchor as well as a reporter at WXYZ-TV, 7Action News, since February 2019. Previously, she worked as a reporter at WIVB/WNLO-TV from March 2015 to January 2019.
Jenn is originally from Grand Rapids, and she is thrilled to be working in her home state. She attended and graduated in the year 2012 from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.
She also served at KLKN-TV in Lincoln, Nebraska as a reporter/ anchor from April 2013 to March 2015. Jenn also worked at Dood Day DePaul. She was also an intern at the Council on American Islamic Relations, serving as a communication intern. Jenn covered stories such as the opioid crisis, medical marijuana, and clergy sex abuse.

Jenn also received a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for her job on Inside The Epidemic, a news special chronicling Western New York’s ongoing struggle with opioid abuse. Inside the Epidemic, Jenn also won a first-place New York Associated Press award in the documentary category.
During her free time, Jenn enjoys traveling, as she has visited six continents and lived in Korea for a short period after college. She currently lives in Detroit and loves exploring new restaurants and different neighborhoods.
