Savanna Brito Weather/ WTWO

Savanna joined WTVO in April 2022, after previously serving at WTWO where she was the weekday morning and noon meteorologist. Northern Illinois is her native home and in 2016, Savanna joined Valparaiso University where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in communications in December 2019.

Savanna enjoys learning about all types of weather that take place across the United States however, she enjoys forecasting severe weather more. While she attended Valparaiso University, she worked as a forecaster for the university television station, Valparaiso University Television.

In addition, after Savanna graduated, she started her first post-college job at WIFR in Rockford, Illinois in January 2020 where she worked as a producer and multimedia journalist. Later on, Savanna joined WTWO/WAWV in Terre Haute, Indiana where she worked as a weekday morning and noon meteorologist before she left the station in September 2020.

Furthermore, while Brito worked at WTWO, Savanna tracked an EF2 tornado live on the air during the December 10-11 2021 outbreak and covered two 8” snowstorms. Savanna also had the opportunity to visit many schools sharing her passion for weather with students of the Wabash Valley.

She first interned at WHBF in the Quad Cities where she served alongside Andy McCray who was the chief meteorologist. When Brito was six years old, she saw her first funnel cloud and dreamt of being a broadcast meteorologist. While Savanna was in college, she was actively involved in fitness and held many roles at the campus fitness center.

She started as a Desk Attendant and quickly climbed up the ladder to becoming a Building Manager. During her senior year of high school, Savanna was a teacher’s Assistant and one of her memorable moments was teaching the 5th-grade students about the weather as well as doing science experiments together with them.

Whenever Savanna is free, she enjoys working out at the gym, spending ample time with her family and friends, traveling, as well as cheering on the Chicago Bulls and Bears.
