Malika Dudley Biography
Malika Dudley (born in 1983) is an American meteorologist and journalist currently serving as a part-time reporter and meteorologist for KITV4, based on the island of Kaua‘i. She joined KITV4 in 2020, becoming Hawai‘i’s first neighbor island-based anchor/reporter, working remotely from her home in Pukalani, Maui.
A graduate of Hilo High School, Malika earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, where she was honored as a Regent Scholar. She later obtained her certification in meteorology from Mississippi State University, and in 2021, she completed a Master’s Degree in Communicology at UH Mānoa—15 years after beginning the program. Her master’s thesis evolved into her award-winning project, the “CommuniFIcation Podcast – The Beautification of Communication.”
Malika began her journalism career in 2007 at KGMB9, where she was twice nominated for Emmy Awards and won a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for her coverage of tsunami damage in Hawai‘i in 2011. Over the years, she has received eight awards from the Society of Professional Journalists Hawai‘i Chapter in categories including Spot News, Feature Reporting, Public Service, Best Podcast, and Best One-Person Blog/Website.
Recognized for her innovative use of social media, Malika was voted “Best Instagrammer” four years in a row by Maui Time readers and named “Social Media Influencer of the Year” by the Business Achievement Awards in 2024.
Beyond the newsroom, Malika is a former Miss Hawai‘i, a black belt in karate, surfer, stunt double, singer, TV host, jewelry designer, freelance writer, and content creator. She is a Pacific Century Fellow, serves on the board of the Maui Food Bank, and is nationally certified as both a CPR instructor and Child Passenger Safety Technician. She frequently volunteers to provide free CPR classes and car seat safety checks throughout the state.
