Blake has had a progressive journalism career since he graduated from The University of George Washington with a journalism degree. Immediately after graduating, he dived into journalism as well as joined KBOI-TV as an anchor. At KBOI-TV, he served for two years reporting on the morning newscasts.
He changed television stations in September 2009 as well as became a weekend anchor for KTNV. At the time, Blake was based in Las Vegas, Nevada. Blake McCoy reported weekend evening newscasts and three nights each week.

There was room for him at WYYG, Fox 5 Washington D.C., Blake joined the station in March 2019 and was its evening newscasts anchor up until his recent suspension in February 2021. The Fox presenter was suspended for tweeting about obese people getting the Covid-19 vaccine before him, yet Blake was an essential worker.
