Julia Jenae (born November 28) is an American attorney licensed and legal correspondent for Court TV where Julia covers some of the most riveting trials in the nation. Prior to joining Court TV, Julia spent several years in Jacksonville, Florida as an investigative reporter for First Coast News and 2 years in East Texas reporting for ABC affiliate KLTV’s investigative team.
While in Texas, Julia was awarded an EMMY for her reporting on a county judge that prompted a state investigation. Jenae also received a Gavel Award from the State Bar of Texas for her investigation into a rogue employer who was siphoning thousands in child support funds away from a local father’s paycheck. Jenae is a three-time EMMY award recipient for investigative reports. The stories she enjoys the most are those where journalism as well as the law intersect because her background is in both.
Julia graduated from Mercer University with a Bachelors in Journalism and Spanish. On campus, she worked as an editor for the Cluster newspaper and program manager and anchor for the campus television station. After college, Julia earned a Juris Doctor from Florida Coastal School of Law and practiced as a civil litigator in Atlanta for 3 years before pursuing her passion for helping people through journalism.
One of Jenae’s most memorable stories highlighted a Texas veteran with ALS who died after being denied VA benefits for years; a VA official paid hundreds of thousands in back benefits to his wife as well as children in the days after Jenae’s report.
Julia has also covered high-profile court cases including the death of George Floyd murder trial, the prosecution of disgraced film mogul Harvey Weinstein, the re-trial of Bernie Tiede infamous for the Jack Black film ‘Bernie’, as well as the sentencing of Gloria Williams for the 18-year long hospital kidnapping of Baby Kamiyah.
Outside of the newsroom, she’s either serving with children in the community, spending time with her family, or somewhere on the beach. Julia loves to travel and learn new languages and is proficient in Spanish and American Sign Language.
